What is Cardiogen??

Cardiogen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg, AEDR) is a synthetic tetrapeptide bioregulator developed by Prof. Vladimir Khavinson’s team at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It belongs to the Cytogen family of synthetic Khavinson peptides – precise copies of the active site sequences found in cardiac tissue extracts. Cardiogen is investigated for its tissue-specific ability to penetrate to the cell nucleus and interact with DNA promoter regions in cardiomyocytes and cardiac fibroblasts – modulating gene expression programs linked to myocardial repair, protein synthesis restoration, fibrosis-associated ECM remodelling, and apoptosis regulation. Research applications span post-infarction remodelling, hypertension-induced cardiac hypertrophy, and fibroblast signalling relevant to both cardiac and prostate tissue microenvironments.

Research Applications

Cardiomyocyte Gene Regulation

DNA promoter interaction in cardiac tissue, protein synthesis restoration, myocardial metabolic gene expression profiling

Post-Infarction Remodelling

Myocardial tissue culture recovery, infarct model fibrosis reduction, cardiomyocyte survival and contractile protein expression

Cardiac Fibroblast Biology

Fibroblast ECM remodelling, TGF-beta/collagen signalling, fibrosis-associated microenvironment studies

Neuroprotective & CNS Gene Expression

Brain cortex gene expression profiling (microarray), neuronoprotective membrane potential effects – heart/brain dual target

Anti-Ageing & Geroprotection

Age-related cardiac decline reversal, myocardial tissue culture from young vs. aged rats, protein synthesis comparison

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reconstitute this peptide?
Add 1–2mL bacteriostatic water to the lyophilized vial by directing water down the inner wall of the vial. Swirl gently until the powder fully dissolves — do not shake or vortex. The solution should be clear and colourless. Use immediately or refrigerate at 2–8°C.
How should this peptide be stored?
Store lyophilized peptide vials at −20°C for long-term storage. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8°C (refrigerator) and use within 21–28 days. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, direct light, and heat exposure.
What purity is this QSC compound and how is it verified?
All QSC compounds are tested to ≥99% purity by HPLC peak area analysis on every production batch. Molecular identity is confirmed by mass spectrometry. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is published on the product page and independently verifiable at verify.janoshik.com using the batch reference number.
